r|boss at Cal's RWE 2007

RWE (romeo-whiskey-echo) or
Real World Engineering
is an annual event at Cal.

the 7th annual RWE is on Feb 22nd at Cal from 5:30-8:30 pm
at the Bechtel Engineering Center.

[l'il shameless self-promotion.]
i'll be on the following panel ...
"Meet Cal Entrepreneurs"
Have you established your own company or produced a new product or service? Then you might be an entrepreneur, someone that organizes and manages a business undertaking and assumes a risk for the sake of profit. We're looking for Engineering alumni who have done just that... started their own business and lived to tell the tale.
yeah. uh ... really. go figure.

i'll post more info as RWE publishes the promotional material. perhaps i may see some of you there - or not. spread the word, 'kay?!

r|break: personality-ish test?!

if you have followed along "way back", then you know the dog you are! (remember ... companies are taking a bit o' a liking to personality test.) heck! we like to futz around with tests. maybe you have some unconscious mutterings to address? (i do every week or so, like this visit with luniniƱa.) but for r|interns and "tests", it's more for the philosophical discussions - uh, yeah. right. philosophical. more for that stuff.

so, here is a simpler personality test question ...

are you a facepincher

or are you headcrusher?

choose wisely! or not.

2007 best career info from ...

u.s. news & world report (home page), and you can get to the start of info here. in their best of career table, ...
... has identified 25 professions that will be in growing demand as baby boomers age, the Internet becomes ubiquitous, and Americans seek richer, simpler lives.
... i find of interest (within the context of potential environmental professional development potential) ... small big "yikes" on salary median pay. of course, there is the staple of engineer, and maybe one can turn a management consultant position into an environmental professional.

WEN in NoCal ... WEC in SoCal

thanks to silver lining for forwarding info on the women's environmental network up here in NoCal. having left SoCal, where there is the women's environmental council, it will be nice to see what WEN is about and get connected.

[side note: i was part of the WEC founding efforts. good memories.]
